there are two main methodes of creating hydrogen gas. electrolysis which uses electricity to split water molocules into two gasses hydrogen and oxogen. the process takes place in a electrolytic cell where the electricity is conducted through a positive anode thru the water to a negative cathode. The second method of creating hydrogen involves steam reforming and is as it sounds a reforming of carbon based fossil fuels into hydrogen gas . For example methanol is heated and split into hydrogen by using a catalyst to break apart the hydrocarbon molocules. The ultimate way to produce hydrogen will be from alternative energies such as large wind farms and hugh solar arrays utilizing electrolysis hydrogen can be stored up for producing electricity when the wind is not blowing or the sun not shinning. Formation that once held natural gas reserves could be used to stor compressed hydrogen gas. one big disadvantage of alternative energy wind farms is in location where the wind is abundant there may not be a good way to transport out the electricity produced as overhead power lines are at capacity and it is difficult to build new ones as they are unsightly. large gas pipe lines are also pretty hard to put in and take million of dollars per mile. producing and consuming hydrogen on site may not be safe untill we have saftey consideration worked out electricity is far safer to use than is hydrogen but that is the beauty of fuel cell they silently turn hydrogen into electricity with the one by- product being potable drinking water.
I have a methodology developed for dealing with everything you talk about. I can localize H2 based electric production to a block by block level, no more blackouts. I've also made some recent discoveries in my Hydrolysis cell prototypes that might be the answer to truly free energy. My last prototype not only produced high levels of methane or ethane, (mostly blue flame and heavy gas), it also recharged the battery. The secret to my system is my cell design and the method I used regarding electronics and power. The last prototype was regenerative, even tot he point that it was producing power to over charge the batter rather quickly, and produced the gases very effectively. I am currently working on regulating that recharging effect. Doesn't work with a standard cell design. Recharging only occurs in my proprietary cell design.
Anyhooo.... I am not a scientist per-say but I do understand most of what is happening. I certainly have learned a planet's worth from when I started a little more than a year ago.
