THE IMPORTANCE OF STORAGE CONTAINERS FOR HYDROGEN

I READ THAT STORING HYDROGEN IN BOTTLES WILL REQUIRE PRETTY EXPENSIVE CONTAINERS. UNDER THE OLD SYSTEM FOR GASSES THE TANKS ARE STEEL AND PRETTY MUCH ALL LOOK THE SAME. HYDROGEN STORED IN NICKLE METAL HYDRIDE REQUIRES COOLING UPON INTRODUCTION OF THE HYDROGEN INTO THE CONTAINER AND HEATING FROM WITHING TO RELEASE THE HYDROGEN SLOWELY. THIS WOULD ADD TO COST OF THE TANKS. THE TANKS CAN BE FILLED FAST AS ADDING A FLUID TO A TANK. EVAPORATION CAN BE A PROBLEM AND WITH IT AN INCREASED RISK OF ACCIDENTAL EXPLOSIONS. I JUST READ ABOUT A NATURAL GAS EXPLOSION WHERE A MAN WAS LIGHTING HIS FURNACES PIOLET LIGHT AND THE WINDOWS OF HIS HOUSE BLEW OUT PLUS THE WHOLE INTERIOR WAS SET A FLAME BY THE EXPLOSION HE GOT HIS SON OUT ALIVE BUT THE HOUSE WAS A TOTAL LOSE. MY OWN SISTER SUFVIVED A PROPANE EXPLOSION BY MY TWO NIECES DID NOT. I THINK FUEL CELLS ARE GREAT IDEA BUT THE COMBUSTION RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH GASSES SHOULD BE WEIGHTED. HYDROGEN WAS SAFE ON THE HINDENBURG IT WAS THE ALUMINUM AND IRON PAINT USED TO COAT THE ZEPPLIN WAS A THERMITE EXPLOSION WAITING TO BE SPARKED OFF.
