H2USA Signals about Face for Obama on Hydrogen Cars

I’ve talked many times about the Obama White House’s less than enthusiastic stance on hydrogen cars, putting money behind battery electric vehicles instead. And I’ve even talked in recent months how the President is warming up and evolving on the idea of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles as a long range, zero emission, quick fueling solution.

Energy Secretary Steven Chu, who is on his way out of office, has even warmed up to the need in the marketplace for fuel cell vehicles. We…

Ford, Nissan, Daimler Join Forces for Fuel Cell Vehicle Advancement

First of all, many thanks to Dave for posting a link in last week’s blog post about the DOE 2012 Annual Report to an article about Ford, Nissan and Daimler joining forces. Because this is such a big story I would like to talk more about it today.

Three of the largest…

Hyundai ix35 Fuel Cell Vehicle Starts Production December 2012

At the 2012 Paris Auto Show which ended about 10 days ago Hyundai had formalized a previous announce that will be a game-changer in the hydrogen car industry. The Korean car company stated that they will start commercial production of the Hyundai ix35 fuel cell vehicle in December 2012.

That’s right folks, in just two months, Hyundai will change history by starting to manufacturer the first commercial hydrogen fuel cell vehicle for sale and lease (instead of lease-only like a…

HyperSolar Creates Happy Accident that Lowers Cost of Fuel Cells

I’ve talked about the company HyperSolar a couple times in the past as a company dedicated to making direct solar to hydrogen systems. The photocatalyst the company has invented is immersed into water and then a light source is turned upon it, resulting in hydrogen production.

The Photocatalytic water splitting technique developed by HyperSolar is an efficient, low cost alternative to using platinum on electrodes. In fact, by happy accident, HyperSolar has discovered not only a…

Why Hydrogen is the Answer

     Hello Friends

As part of our message on why hydrogen and fuel cells are essintial to a clean energy future we have added a new edited video from Jeremy Rifkins presentation at the Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Conferance 2011 from Washington DC.  It provides a simple to understand clear explination of how important hydrogen is to our future here in America and in the EU the link to the video is…

Building the Lobby

Building The Lobby- Starts With You

For those of us involved in the Fuel Cell and Hydrogen industry one of the largest obstacles to wide spread adoption has been getting the public and politicians around the world aware of how fuel cells and hydrogen are essintial to providing energy and storage from alternative energy sources like solar, wind, geothermal, hydro and wave energy solutions.

All these sources are variable meaning that when they are…

Videos of Fuel Cell & Hydrogen Conferance FEB.13-16 2011

Our web site E3 Wise.com was allowed to film at the Fuel Cell & Hydrogen Energy Conference in Washington D.C. February 13-16.  We were able to film over twenty speakers presentations from all over the world on many different Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Programs and projects going on right now.

Jeremy Rifkin author of the Hydrogen Economy and advisor to the European Unions Hydrogen Energy plan was one of the first speakers.  We are editing and posting these…

WHAT NOW?

I have designed a process that makes hydrogen production cost-effective.

However, I'm so stinking poor I can't build it.

I've tried numerous contacts including the DOE, The White House, senators, congressmen, Al, Gore, Bill Clinton, And Jimmy Carter to name a few.

I've also tried many philanthropic organizations, and even celebs.

I've gotten two or three responses to the effect of "good luck."

The rest either didn't bother to respond or replied with some…

Hydrogen Availability

There is no hydrogen fueled economy for a very simple reason.

There is no hydrogen available to the public, even though it is the most prevalent element in the Universe.

Industry uses billions of pounds of hydrogen per year but unless you are in the oil refining, plastics production, edible food oil, paint manufacturing, computer chip manufacturing, steel making, or other major industry and want to use hydrogen on an industrial scale, it is hard to come by. The great majority of… Continue

BMW Series 1 Fuel Cell Hybrid Electric Car Announced

UTC Power has announced that their 5 kW fuel cell is being used inside a new BMW Series 1 Hybrid electric car. The unveiling this week was during the 25th anniversary BMW ZT celebration in Munich, Germany.

UTC has been working on this fuel cell since 1999. According to UTC Vice President, Ken Stewart, “From a fully frozen state, the fuel cell is half way to full power in less than 30 seconds. The system uses UTC…

GM Hydrogen Car Crash Is Total Loss But No One Hurt

I get tired of the Chicken Little’s of the world or the advocates of other alternative fuel vehicles comparing hydrogen cars to the Hindenburg. The Hindenburg fallacy I’ve addressed on the website, blog and in

numerous emails ad nauseam.

Numerous manufacturers including GM and Honda have put their cars through extensive crash tests to make sure no explosions will occur. This has once again validated by GM…

Genesys RET Technology Breakthrough in Producing Hydrogen from Water

According to CEO Ronny Bar-Gadda of Genesys LLC there is a new technology that he’s invented called RET (radiant energy transfer) that is a breakthrough in producing hydrogen from water. According to Mr. Bar-Gadda,

this may just be the disruptive technology the H2 community has been waiting

for in regard to producing cost effective hydrogen from any feedstock of water.

The RET system is expected to…

Hydrogen Peroxide and Aluminum as Super Fuel for Cars

Here’s a blast from the past. I want to take you back to 1999 when

the Gillette Mach 3 Challenger motorcycle broke the land speed record running on

hydrogen peroxide and aluminum and hit the record mark of 365 miles per

hour at the Bonneville Salt Flats.

In the past, I’ve talked many times about the merits of hydrogen peroxide or… Continue

Laser Hydride CD Storage for Hydrogen Fuel Cell Vehicles

Now, many people probably haven’t heard about laser hydride compact

disc (CD) storage before. I know that I hadn’t before I stumbled across a

company called Plasma Kinetics.

Sure, there are many ways to store hydrogen including metal hydride containers which can be quite heavy, compressed hydrogen tanks which are

extremely insulated and built to withstand leakage and impact. Some of

these tanks are built out of metal alloys and others out of more…

Understanding the Bloom Box

We've been reading a lot of material about the "Bloom Box", a new fuel cell product being launched in the US. The product was formally launched at eBay's headquarters on Wed Feb

24th, and has a reported $400m of venture capital, with Walmart,

Google, Staples, FedEx, Bank of America and Coke also trying out the

device.

Just to try to understand the benefits of it:

Just like your local power station, the Bloom box takes natural gas and makes electricity from… Continue

Honda FCX Clarity

I have published a lot of information, links and notices about the Honda FCX Clarity in my blog, at http://engsis.wordpress.com/
Notices criticizing this outstanding product and contrary to the Honda plans in 2010 about this fuel cell concept vehicle, including its H2 domestic station, are sometimes found in the Internet.
Does anybody have more recent news about this car and Honda future plans about it?
